Family Movie night

Last night we watched E.T., my kids were so memorized with the movie. It brought back so many childhood memories. My neighbors stopped by while we were watching it and stayed until it ended. What a fun night and we enjoyed Reese's in honor of the movie.

I love fall weekends for this exact reason, family time watching movies or playing board games. Lots to do and enjoy together.

Snowy Day, what to do?

We enjoyed a fun Cub scouts Pinewood Derby day this morning. It was lots of fun seeing the boys little cars they created and actually race them. It was also nice seeing some familiar faces and chat about Scrapbooking, my favorite hobby and soccer. Yes, I am a soccer fanatic. We have been coaching our kids soccer teams for the last few years but nothing compares to actually playing. I so miss those days, being soar from running not from a poor night's sleep. HAhahah! Yes, we are getting older.

To top off the day we enjoyed watching the movie A Dolphin's Tale, Harry Connick, Jr. what a great actor. I actually prefer his singing but the kids loved this movie. I recommend it for a family movie night.

We then enjoyed a Lego and family book reading night. Talk about a great way to spend a cold winter's night. I will have to see if we can recreate this again soon!

Life as We Know it

I find my life is going very well. I have no complaints. My family is healthy, kids growing up and my relationship with my husband is great. My extended family relationships are good as well. I see others though and wonder if they see how fortunate they truly are. Life is good and yet all you hear is negative chatter from the media, neighbors, etc.

I am thankful for the moment to stop, breathe in and truly appreciate those in my life and all that I have been blessed with.

My title for this date is "Life as We Know it", if you have seen the film then you know what it is about. If you have not seen it, all I have to say is my Life is good and I recommend everyone to take moment and reflect of what is truly important.

SNOW SNOW SNOW

Its day 2 and we are cold and my poor husband is soar from all the snow sholving yesterday. Schools are closed and well, I have been catching up with my kids, watching movies, reading books and scrapbooking to my heart's content. I finished up a set of cards and now only have one set left to complete. I hope to also get some gifts completed for upcoming birthdays and teacher gifts. I know kind of early but better prepared than not, I say.

Movies...I watched The Day After Tomorrow. It was fitting since we have been home do to the snow. My son watched it with me and it awakened his thoughts about what could happen to Earth if we do not take better care of it.

Ofcourse we watched our share of Scooby Doo and Elmo to satisfy the masses. Scooby Doo is a riot, I love the episodes with the Harlem Globtrotters or Batman in them. I watched those when I was his age. I think I will be puting on GI Joe and the Justice League cartoons for him today. Talk about throw back to our younger years but they do not make cartoons like they use to.

I degress, I have to get breakfast going and then we can have cartoons all morning. Yes, another snow day and hopefully it will be one where we can enjoy the cartoons, hot chocolate and maybe some rest time. Keep Warm!

Dear John and Weekend Plans

I just finished reading the Nicholas Sparks book Dear John. It made me laugh, cry and really dislike Nicholas Sparks. I forgot his books never truly end with a happy ending. Over all, it was enjoyable but if you have read any of his books you know what I mean when a happy ending was needed for this book. I guess my version of the ending was not his intended ending for Dear John. Poor John is all I will say for now.

So, there is a dreaded snow storm coming our way and everyone is in a panic. Stocking up on food and salt for their homes. I am bummed about this possible snow storm, I usually look forward to them but this one is impacting my weekend plans. We shall see if the Book Club Ladies will make it to our adventure down south.

If things do go sour for my plans I will have to see what movies we have to watch for the long weekend. Hmm...I may have to get out some of the old faithful ones to keep us laughing all weekend long. For example and not in any particular order...

  1. The Replacements
  2. Old School
  3. Dodgeball
  4. Grandma's Boy
  5. Alien's in The Attic
  6. The Rundown
  7. The Last Dragon
  8. Zoolander
  9. Days and Confused
  10. Breakfast Club
  11. The Waterboy
  12. Van Wilder
  13. Half Baked
  14. Big Daddy
  15. Rat Race
  16. 50 First Dates
  17. Wedding Crashers
  18. Shaun of the Dead
  19. The Pacifier
  20. Beverly Hills Cop

I doubt we will get through all of these but its a start so we can plan around naps since only maybe 2 are okay for the entire family to watch together. So I want the snow to head away from us but if it does hit us, I say "Bring It On!" ...Also another rather funny movie.

2010 a new decade, a new adventure

I know, I know, what? Another blogger and what is this about. Well, not much other than my perspective on my little world. I see things as an opportunity, a new adventure. I get this exciting feeling in my stomach, like when you go to a movie and you just got your munchies and have sat down. Its almost time, the previews are beginning and shortly the lights dim for the film to begin. This is similar to life! Life is like a movie at times, with its high and low points but every day its your day to make it how you want it to be. A comedy or drama.Boy we know those people who make everything a drama. A surreal moment where you find yourself in the same mundane routine. Snap out of it! I say enjoy whatever it is, for it is only a moment and it will pass and something new and exciting will take its place. Cherish it. Before you know it, you'll see your reflection in the mirror and say "when did I turn 40?" or realize your little baby is now off to high school. So pass the popcorn and enjoy the show!

**********************************************************************************

Its the end of January 2010 and this month has gone by so quickly I need to stop for a moment and reflect. I have been truly blessed with good health (ok I need to get to the gym more regularly, need to lose the holiday pounds) and a great family. I enjoy my baking and scrapbooking hobby when I can get to do them, mainly on the weekends. I really need to get some time to work on my projects but in time that too will get accomplished. I have no resolutions this year just some goals.

  1. Focus my time on what matters most to me (kids and husband, scrapbooking, downtime)
  2. Enjoy my love for movies with my husband (we both enjoy movies, not so much TV shows, we are movie junkies)

Okay, now let's talk about what I really love...my kids will have to wait a moment, good thing its naptime. Let's focus on the task at hand.

I have not been to the movies in awhile. The last film I saw was Sherlock Holmes, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I recommend it to everyone, not kids but its a great film. Robert Downey has done it again, superb performance. A very smart, witty character and I loved the recap of the story when he explains how he deduced what transpires. I will not go into more detail than that, it will ruin it for those who have not had the pleasure of seeing it as of yet. A definitely movie I will plan to purchase.

Next on my list to see is Avatar, I am a huge fan of sci-fi movies and books. I hear fantastic recommendations about this movie. We shall see, maybe in February I can talk my hubby for a matinee showing.

The other night at home we watched Disney's remake of Race to Witch Mountain with The Rock - Dwayne Johnson. It's a good family movie, heck there really are not that many these days for those of us with kids to enjoy together. This one I recommend.

We also recently, (the hubby and I) watched Twilight, his first time and my 4th time watching it, I think. He read the book recently and wanted to see how different they were from one another. I have read all the books, like most people seem to have and I already saw New Moon at the theater in the fall and really enjoyed that one, more so than the first. Talk about a budget making or breaking a film. My husband asked if I liked New Moon more so than Twilight, my response and thought... Who wouldn't with all the good looking men, physically well...hot, they all seemed to be shirtless and have hot bods. I am very interested in seeing how the third film will turn out compared to the previous two.

Tonight after spending time with the kids playing a rousing game of Wii bowling or tennis and the kids are off to bed. I think I will have to watch The Patriot, I have been wanting to watch this again. I think Mel Gibson is a great actor and have to admit I have most of his films in my library of DVDs. Yes, the man has issues. Who doesn't this days? His just happen to be little more public than most everyone elses. I enjoy the idea of what a family must have gone through in that time frame and Mel's character going nuts on the Red Coats when they take Health Ledger's character away after killing the second son. Okay I have gotten ahead of myself. If you have not seen it, its a great movie, how historically accurate, I am not certain. Entertaining and a good film to enjoy on a cold winter night with the hubby.

I better make certain I have popcorn for tonight or I guess I will be making a run for the grocery store soon. Ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats the show is about to begin. Enjoy the show!
